أعلنت الرئاسة السنغالية أن الرئيس بشيرو جوماي دياخار فاي استقبل الرئيس السابق ماكي سال لبحث ملف ترشحه لمنصب الأمين العام لمنظمة الأمم المتحدة.
وأوضحت الرئاسة أن اللقاء جرى في أجواء وصفت بأنها ودية وتعكس روح المسؤولية الوطنية، وأسفر عن قرار رسمي يقضي بدعم السنغال الكامل لترشيح الرئيس السابق.
ووفق البيان، أصدر الرئيس بشيرو جوماي فاي توجيهاته إلى الحكومة وإلى مختلف البعثات الدبلوماسية السنغالية للعمل على حشد الدعم لترشيح ماكي سال لدى الدول الأعضاء في الأمم المتحدة.
كما دعا الرئيس مختلف القوى الحية في السنغال إلى الالتفاف حول هذا الترشيح، باعتباره مشروعًا يخدم مكانة إفريقيا ويعزز دورها داخل منظومة الأمم المتحدة، ويسهم في دعم مبادئ التعددية الدولية.
هذا دعم مهم جداً، من الجيد أن السنغال تؤيد ماكي سال.
