رامافوزا يؤكد أن القوات الجنوب إفريقية ستبقى في موزمبيق.

قرر الرئيس الجنوب إفريقي، سيريل رامافوزا، تمديد نشر قوة الدفاع الوطني الجنوب إفريقية للوفاء بـ”الواجب الدولي” لجنوب إفريقيا في مجال الأمن البحري لمجموعة التنمية في الجنوب الإفريقي.
وأوضح أن هذا النشر يهدف إلى درء خطر القرصنة وأنشطة غير شرعية أخرى مشابهة في المحيط الهندي. وستستمر هذه المهمة إلى غاية 31 مارس 2023 وستكلف 10 ملايين دولار أمريكي. وكشف الرئيس رامافوزا أن 200 جندي جنوب إفريقي سينتشرون في إطار هذه العملية.
ونُشرت القوات للمرة الأولى سنة 2011، بعد سلسلة من هجمات القرصنة قبالة سواحل موزمبيق. وستساهم دوريات البحرية الجنوب إفريقية في الحد من حوادث القرصنة في منطقة الجنوب الإفريقي.
