أعلن الجيش السنغالي مقتل 4 من جنوده واحتجاز 7 آخرين “كرهائن” في غامبيا بعد مواجهات حدودية الأسبوع الماضي، مع متمردين من “حركة قوات كازامانس الديمقراطية”.
وأوضح الجيش السنغالي في بيان صادر عنه أن “3 جنود قتلوا في معارك في 24 يناير”، فيما توفي “الرابع أمس في طريق نقله إلى المستشفى “برنسبال ” بالعاصمة دكار متأثرا بجروحه بعد بضعة أيام من الإصابة “.
وأضاف بيان الجيش أن الرهائن المحتجزين “جميعهم على قيد الحياة وبصحة جيدة”، وكانت حصيلة سابقة قد أفادت بمقتل جنديين وفقدان 9 آخرين، لكن الجيش أكد أنه “لم يعد هناك مفقودون”.
وأفاد الجيش السنغالي في وقت سابق الأسبوع الماضي أن المواجهات وقعت بينما كان الجنود ضمن عملية لمكافحة قطع الأشجار غير القانوني عند الحدود مع غامبيا.
وكان الجنود ضمن مهمة لحفظ السلام من المجموعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب إفريقيا في غامبيا، والتي نشرتها “إيكواس” في يناير 2017، عندما رفض الرئيس السابق يحيى جامي التخلي عن السلطة، عقب خسارته في الانتخابات الرئاسية.
وتقف “حركة قوات كازامانس الديموقراطية” خلف نزاع انفصالي تشهده منطقة كازامانس بالجنوب السنغالي، يعود إلى سنة 1982 وقد أسفر عن سقوط آلاف القتلى.
