من الأمم المتحدة إلى وزارة الخارجية: المسيرة الدبلوماسية لشيخ نيانغ
عاد اسم مألوف في السلك الدبلوماسي السنغالي إلى الواجهة. ففي سن الـ68، عُيّن شيخ نيانغ وزيرًا للتكامل الإفريقي والشؤون الخارجية والسنغاليين بالخارج، خلفًا لـ ياسين فال التي انتقلت إلى حقيبة العدل.
ينحدر نيانغ من مدينة تياس، وقد راكم تجربة تمتد لعقود في خدمة الدولة والدبلوماسية. ففي عام 2019، انتُخب رئيسًا للجنة الثانية للجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة، المكلّفة بالقضايا الاقتصادية والمالية. وقبلها، تنقّل في عدة عواصم مؤثرة: سفيرًا باليابان (2014-2018) مع اعتماد على أستراليا ونيوزيلندا وفيتنام وسنغافورة، ثم بالولايات المتحدة مع تغطية لأمريكا الوسطى والجنوبية، كما مثّل السنغال في جنوب إفريقيا بين 2010 و2012 مع اعتماد لدى عشر دول أخرى.
سبق له أن شغل منصب قنصل عام للسنغال بنيويورك (2006-2010)، بعد أن عمل وزيرًا مستشارًا في البعثة الدائمة. كما تولى رئاسة لجنة ممارسة الحقوق غير القابلة للتصرف للشعب الفلسطيني. وفي الفترة ما بين 1995 و2001، كان مستشارًا دبلوماسيًا لرئيس الجمهورية ومديرًا لدائرة إفريقيا بوزارة الخارجية.
من الناحية الأكاديمية، يتمتع نيانغ بتكوين رفيع: خريج المدرسة الوطنية للإدارة والقضاء في دكار، وحاصل على دبلوم دراسات معمقة في اللغة الإنجليزية من جامعة الشيخ أنتا جوب، إضافة إلى ماجستير في العلاقات الدولية والدراسات الاستراتيجية من جامعة لانكستر (بريطانيا)، ودبلوم في الترجمة الفورية من جامعة ويستمنستر (المملكة المتحدة). وهو يتقن الفرنسية والإنجليزية بطلاقة.
في 20 فبراير 2025، أصدر كتابًا بعنوان «تأملات دبلوماسي إفريقي في تحديات القارة – البحث عن القمم»، دعا فيه إفريقيا إلى التحرر من القيود التي تعرقل نهضتها، وإلى ترسيخ سيادتها والاضطلاع بدور فاعل في عالم متغير. كما وجّه نداءً للأفارقة كي يعيدوا ابتكار مستقبلهم، بمزيج من الذاكرة والطموح، الحكمة والجرأة، من أجل بناء غد يليق بإمكاناتهم
