وقع المترشحون الستة للانتخابات الرئاسية الغامبية على مدونة سلوك، من أجل اقتراع سلمي، وذلك بمبادرة من المعهد الدولي للديمقراطية والمساعدة الانتخابية.
ويلتزم موقعو المدونة السلوكية بالحفاظ على الانتخابات “من جميع أشكال التهديد والإيذاء والعنف، والتعاون مع مفوضية الانتخابات المستقلة والشرطة والمؤسسات، والعمل بطريقة مهنية أثناء النزاعات في مراكز الاقتراع وفي التجمعات”.
ويتنافس في الرئاسيات الغامبية، المقررة في 4 من ديسمبر المقبل كل من الرئيس الحالي منتهي الولاية آدما بارو عن حزب الشعب الوطني، وزعيم المعارضة حسينو داربو عن الحزب الديمقراطي المتحد، والمترشح المستقل عيسى امباي افال، وعبدولي جامي عن الحزب من أجل الوحدة الوطنية، وآدما كاه عن حزب المؤتمر الديمقراطي الغامبي، إضافة إلى خليفة صلاح المترشح عن المنظمة الشعبية الديمقراطية من أجل الاستقلال والاشتراكية.
وانطلقت الحملة الدعائية للانتخابات في 9 من الشهر الجاري، وتعتبر الاستحقاقات المرتقبة، الأولى لغامبيا منذ مغادرة الرئيس السابق يحيى جامي السلطة عام 2016، بعد حكم استمر 22 سنة.
