رحبت الحكومة السنغالية باتفاق وقف إطلاق النار الذي تم التوصل إليه بين إسرائيل وحركة حماس، معتبرةً أنه يمثل خطوة مهمة نحو تهدئة التوترات في الشرق الأوسط والتخفيف من المعاناة الإنسانية في قطاع غزة.
وجاء في البيان الصادر عن وزارة الشؤون الخارجية أن السنغال تُعبّر عن تقديرها العميق للولايات المتحدة وقطر ومصر وتركيا على جهود الوساطة الحاسمة التي أسفرت عن هذا الاتفاق، كما أشادت بالدور الذي اضطلع به الفاعلون الإقليميون والدوليون الداعمون لمسار السلام.
ودعت دكار جميع الأطراف المعنية إلى الالتزام الصارم ببنود الاتفاق بروح من المسؤولية وضبط النفس، من أجل الحفاظ على الثقة وترسيخ دينامية السلام الناشئة.
وبصفتها رئيسة لجنة الأمم المتحدة المعنية بممارسة الشعب الفلسطيني لحقوقه غير القابلة للتصرف، جدّدت السنغال تمسكها بحلّ عادل ودائم يقوم على القانون الدولي ومبدأ التعايش السلمي بين دولتين، إسرائيل وفلسطين، تعيشان جنباً إلى جنب في أمن وكرامة
