صرّح بذلك رئيس مفوضية الإيكواس، عمر عليو توراي، عقب لقاء جمعه بالرئيس الغامبي أداما بارو الأسبوع الماضي في بانجول.
تؤكد المنظمة عزمها على عدم انتظار استيفاء جميع الدول الأعضاء لمعايير التقارب المحددة.
وسيتم دعم من يحتاجون إلى مزيد من الوقت…
وقال الدكتور توراي: “الفكرة هي إطلاق العملة الموحدة مع من هم مستعدون”. وأضاف الدبلوماسي، الذي يأمل مع ذلك أن تكون جميع الدول الأعضاء في المجموعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا قد استوفت هذه المعايير قبل إطلاق العملة في عام ٢٠٢٧: “سيتم دعم من يحتاجون إلى مزيد من الوقت حتى يتمكنوا أيضًا من استيفاء معايير التقارب”.
