لم يتأخر ردّ خليفة أبوبكر صال، عقب رفض المحكمة العليا الطعن المقدم من طرف عمدة داكار، بارتيليمي دياز. ففي بيان شديد اللهجة، اعتبر العمدة الأسبق للعاصمة السنغالية أن القرار يشكّل «ضربة قاصمة للسيادة الانتخابية وللديمقراطية ولمبادئ الإدارة الحرة للجماعات الترابية».
وأكد خليفة صال أن أصوات الناخبين الداكاروويين قد «صودرت» وجرى «التضحية بها على مذبح الانحراف السلطوي»، محذرًا من العواقب الخطيرة لهذا الحكم على مستقبل التجربة الديمقراطية المحلية.
الأمين العام لحزب “تحالف تاخاوو السنغال” ذهب أبعد من ذلك، واصفًا القرار بأنه «تجسيد صارخ لانتهاك السيادة الشعبية»، في إشارة إلى ما يعتبره مؤشراً مقلقاً على التراجع عن المكتسبات الديمقراطية التي تحققت خلال العقود الأخيرة في البلاد
