قال الرئيس السنغالي ماكي صال في افتتاح قمة الصين-أفريقيا في داكار اليوم الإثنين إن خطط بعض الدول لإنهاء التمويل لاستكشاف الغاز الطبيعي سيوجه ضربة “مميتة” بعض اقتصاديات الدول الافريقية .
وتملك السنغال وبعض دول أفريقية أخرى احتياطيات ضخمة من الغاز. ومن المتوقع أن يصبح البلد الواقع في غرب أفريقيا منتجا رئيسيا للغاز في المنطقة وهو ما سيعزز امدادات الكهرباء ويحفز على نمو بمعدلات تزيد على 10 % بدءا من 2023 .
وأبلغ صال القمة “بعد أيام قليلة من نهاية كوب26، يجب عليّ أيضا أن ألفت الانتباه إلى القرار الذي اتخذته بعض الدول لوقف التمويل الأجنبي للوقود الأحفوري، بما في ذلك قطاع الغاز، حتى مع استمرار استخدام مصادر أخرى للطاقة أكثر تلويثا للبيئة”، مشيرا إلى مؤتمر المناخ الدولي الذي عقد هذا الشهر في جلاسجو.
وأضاف قائلا “في الوقت الذي تستعد فيه بعض الدول الأفريقية لاستغلال مواردها الكبيرة من الغاز، فإن إنهاء التمويل لقطاع الغاز، تحت ذريعة أنه مصدر للطاقة الأحفورية، سيكون له تكلفة مميتة لاقتصاداتنا الناشئة.”
وحث صال الدول الأفريقية على العمل معا للحفاظ على التمويل للغاز كمصدر انتقالي للطاقة، قائلا إن وقف التمويل سيزيد من الغبن المتعلق بالمناخ الذي تعانيه أفريقيا بالفعل.
