إفريقيا تدعو القطاع الخاص لدعم جهود التلقيح ضد كورونا
دعا المركز الإفريقي للسيطرة على الأمراض والوقاية منها، التابع للاتحاد الإفريقي الفاعلين في القطاع الخاص الإفريقي إلى “دعم جهود القارة من أجل ضمان تلقيح مناسب ضد كوفيد -19”.
وأوضح المركز في بيان صادر عنه أن القارة “التي يناهز عدد سكانها 1.3 مليار نسمة، بحاجة إلى جرعات كثيرة من اللقاحات، لتحقيق مناعة جماعية بنسبة لا تقل عن 60%”.
وأعلن المركز أن عملاق شبكة الهاتف المحمول في إفريقيا “MTN” قدم مبلغ “25 مليون دولار لدعم برنامج التلقيح ضد كوفيد -19″، مضيفا أن هذا الدعم “سيساعد في الحصول على 7 ملايين جرعة من لقاح ضد كوفيد -19 لصالح العاملين في القطاع الصحي بالقارة”.
وكان الاتحاد الإفريقي قد وصف في بيان سابق تداعيات كورونا على القارة ب”المدمرة” و”العميقة” و”غير المسبوقة” داعيا إلى “ضرورة إقامة شراكة بين القطاعين العام والخاص، إن أردنا النجاح في مكافحة الوباء”.
وأعلن الاتحاد عن شرائه 270 مليون جرعة لقاح ضد كورونا “بفضل ضمانات الدفع المسبق الممنوحة للموردين من قبل بنك الاستيراد والتصدير الإفريقي بمبلغ ملياري دولار”.
