بحث الرئيس الأمريكي جو بايدن، ونظيره السنغالي ماكي صال، تداعيات التدخل الروسي العسكري في أوكرانيا على الأمن الغذائي في إفريقيا.
وناقش الجانبان – خلال لقائهما الثلاثاء، في قمة مجموعة السبع، بحسب بيان للبيت الأبيض – “شراكة مجموعة السبع في البنية التحتية العالمية والاستثمار والتي تتضمن مشروعا رائدا جديدا للاستثمار في منشأة تصنيع لقاحات جديدة على نطاق صناعي في السنغال قادرة على إنتاج مئات الملايين من جرعات اللقاحات سنويا المضادة لكورونا وأمراض أخرى”.
جدير بالذكر أن السنغال هي الرئيس الحالي للاتحاد الأفريقي, كما أن الولايات المتحدة كانت قد أكدت التزامها – يوم الـ18 من يونيو الجاري – بالشراكة مع السنغال والاتحاد الإفريقي؛ حيث أكد مستشار الأمن القومي الأمريكي جيك سوليفان، في أثناء لقائه وزيرة خارجية السنغال عيساتا تال سال، في البيت الأبيض، التزام بلاده بالشراكة مع السنغال والاتحاد الإفريقي لمواجهة التحديات العالمية المشتركة.
