أعلنت السلطات النيجيرية، الأربعاء، إنقاذ 5 من أصل 7 ضباط من البحرية كانوا قد اختطفوا على يد مسلحين، فيما بقي اثنان في عداد المفقودين.
وقال مسؤول من البحرية النيجيرية (طلب عدم الكشف عن هويته بسبب القيود المفروضة على التصريح لوسائل الإعلام)، للأناضول، إن “الضباط اختطفوا في ساعة متأخرة من مساء الثلاثاء في ولاية “إيدو” الجنوبية أثناء سفرهم إلى ولاية “دلتا” المجاورة قادمين من “كادونا” (عاصمة ولاية تحمل الاسم نفسه) حيث يتمركزون”.
وأضاف المسؤول أن “الضباط كانوا في طريقهم إلى كلية الهندسة البحرية في مدينة “سابيلي” بولاية دلتا (جنوب)”.
وفي السياق نفسه، أكد كوتونجس بيلو المتحدث باسم شرطة الولاية الحادث صباح الأربعاء، قائلاً إن “شرطة “إيدو” بدأت جهود الإنقاذ على الفور”.
وقال بيلو: “أنقذنا 5 ضباط، فيما بقي اثنان آخران في عداد المفقودين”.
