أعلن في الكويت عن وفاة المغفور له بإذن الله يوسف جاسم الحجي وزير الأوقاف الأسبق، المؤسس والرئيس الفخري للهيئة الخيرية الإسلامية العالمية .
ويعتبر يوسف الحجي من المهتمين بالعمل الخيري الإسلامي وحصل على جائزة الملك فيصل العالمية في مجال خدمة الإسلام في 2006.
شارك الحجي في تأسيس الهيئة الخيرية الإسلامية العالمية، كما رأس اللجنة الكويتية للإغاثة التي قامت بأعمال إغاثة في المناطق المنكوبة في العالم الإسلامي مثل البوسنة والهرسك والصومال ولبنان والسودان والعراق، كما أسس الحجي ـ أو شارك في تأسيس وإدارة ـ عدد من الجمعيات الخيرية في الكويت، وكان نائباً لرئيس مجلس إدارة بيت الزكاة الكويتي، ونائباً لرئيس المجلس الإسلامي العالمي للدعوة والإغاثة بالقاهرة، ورئيس لجنة التمويل فيه.
