وبحسب وزارة البنية التحتية السنغالية، فإن الجسر “سيقتصر الطريق إلى غامبيا وكازامانس، ولكنه أيضا سيلعب دورا مهما في فك العزلة وتطوير إمكانات فونديون”.
وأوضح المكتب الإعلامي الحكومي أن هذا الجسر يعتبر “تتويجا لرغبة الحكومة في تزويد السنغال ببنية تحتية حديثة تفك العزلة عن مدينة فونديون وعن البلاد”.
