فرض الاتحاد الأوروبي عقوبات على 5 مسؤولين في مالي بينهم رئيس الوزراء الانتقالي، تشوغويل كوكالا مايغا، لاتهامهم بإعاقة الانتقال السياسي في البلاد وسط استمرار حكم المجلس العسكري.
وتقضي العقوبات بتجميد أصول الشخصيات المستهدفة ومنعها من دخول أراضي الاتحاد الأوروبي، وكذلك منع الأفراد والكيانات في دول التكتل من وضع أموال في تصرف المسؤولين المذكورين.
واستولى الجيش في مالي على السلطة عبر انقلاب عسكري في أغسطس 2020.
ويعد البلد، الذي يسكنه 19 مليون نسمة، معقلا لتمرد بدأ عام 2012 ووصل لاحقا إلى النيجر وبوركينا فاسو المجاورتين.
